Barnes, Albert F. (). Greater Portland Celebration Portland, Maine: Guy Gannett Publishing Co. ISBN Neal, John (). Wandering Recollections of a Somewhat Busy Life. A good "year in the life" book about one of the great guys in football. The GM is not someone the average couch sitting, football fan will know well, but he is the guy who truly has to get the players, get the coaches, and keep the whole team on the same page. Ernie Accorsi is truly one of the last great guys to fill this role/5(43).

One of the first well-known major publications by Jack Ward Thomas, this book is often referred to by serious elk hunters as the "elk bible." A Wildlife Management Institute book, the page hardcover edition was published in by Stackpole Books. It's somewhat rare and difficult to find now, and is not usually available in new condition. Preface. THREE papers of "Personal Recollections of Nathaniel Hawthorne," recently published in Harper's Magazine, were favorably received, and have brought many letters, from strangers as well as from friends, urging me to publish still more upon the same subject. I may therefore hope that a somewhat more extended account--in book-form--of Hawthorne will also be well received.

In reading the Fieldses’ book, I was recalled to so many scenes in my own life, such a jumbled mixture of impressions seen through this new and truer lens: times when my own children were.   The object we call a book is not the real book, but its seed or potential, like a music score. It exists fully only in the act of being read; and its real home is inside the head of the reader, where the seed germinates, the symphony resounds. A book is a heart that only beats in the chest of another.

A somewhat strange life, therefore; although, as I wrote in Pathei-Mathos, Genesis of My Unknowing: "There are no excuses for my extremist past, for the suffering I caused to loved ones, to family, to friends, to those many more, those far more, 'unknown others' who were or who became the 'enemies' posited by some extremist ideology.

His last books include an autobiography titled Wandering Recollections of a Somewhat Busy Life (), a collection of pieces for and about children titled Great Mysteries and Little Plagues (), and a guidebook for his hometown titled Portland Illustrated ().

By in his old age, he had amassed a comfortable fortune, valued at $80, Wandering in Strange Lands is part memoir/family history, part ethnography as the author traces the Great Migration back to specific Black communities in the United States.

It is a fascinating, thoughtful and nuanced exploration of Blackness in America and the complexities of racism, colorism, gentrification, and labeling of groups/5(27).
